Most people know already that Solange chopped all of her hair off. I'm in agreement with the majority that the long hair was much more becoming on her, but it's one thing to disagree and something entirely different to hate.

She has some strong words against people who are simply being a bit extra about a situation and body that isn't their own.

"Listen, if I wanted to make a statement I would have twitpic’d a photo shoot, ect. I was simply taking my son to school. Stupid paps took my pic. I’ve had my hair cut like this for two weeks. I was NOT inspired by anyone but myself. I have done this twice in my life. I was 16. I was 18. Did not care about your opinion then. Don’t care now. Don’t need your attention or your co-sign. Don’t want an edge up or a perm, because I’m not trying to make this “a style” or a statement. I just wanted to be free from the bondage that black women sometimes put on themselves with hair. This phase of my life I want to spend the time, the energy and the money on something else and not in the hair salon. I’m not mad at all of you that have made your opinions known and have sent negative energy my way. I expected this of you, and you have the right to have an opinion. So do I."

I've always appreciated her ability to say whatever is on her mind.

She's a true individual. Something a lot of people need to work harder towards becoming.

She has trouble finding love here.

And I know why, but I can't help her.

It used to be easy for me to dance around flaws and see the good in all people,

But right now I see no one trustworthy of my state of mind.

Where I'm from they tell you,

But why neglect these bodies that cannot intend to hurt you?

A touch only holds promise of that moment.

I thrive in them..

And I'm sorry, but

But I fear that they've devoured all the love I had left.

And my heart is no longer a blank canvas on which you can paint whatever scene you find beautiful.

And it is my fault I dealt to the wrong artists.

They painted my window of hope black and I can no longer see through to you.

I hope you shine your brightest so I can see you flicker one day.

See my love is solar powered so it is required that you brighten my days.

And then maybe I'll gain strength and push back this baggage,

And run in the other direction.

Run towards these promises you fill my head with

If I am so sure that your intentions are broken soul-stitching heaven on earth.

But as for now.

My window stays black.

My pride's been torn.

They hold onto my back so that I can't move forward.
